Anonymal is an association for social and cultural animation and mediation via audiovisual tools and information and communication technologies.
Created in 1999 at the Jas de Bouffan, a priority area of the city of Aix-en-Provence, one of its objectives is to promote the voice of the inhabitants and to highlight civic life. In May 2009, the association launched anonymal.tv, a participatory web TV. This approach is unprecedented in the municipality, the subjects addressed are diverse ranging from culture to politics, including the economy, social and sports subjects.
All of them take into account the voice of the citizens. Anonymal.tv has thus established itself in the local media landscape. In 2010, Web TV developed participatory platforms (filmed debates), allowing residents to exchange directly with qualified people (elected officials, city technicians, local actors, etc.) on subjects related to their living environment. With its experience in ultra-local, Anonymal invests in other territories of the PACA Region, during video mediation actions.
As part of requalification work, urban rehabilitation, or in favour of citizen councils, Anonymal intervenes to give a voice to the inhabitants, to follow the progress of the work, and to meet the major players in each project. The films resulting from these exchanges must encourage the support of the inhabitants for the project, and allow them to find their place in it.
Anonymal also offers image education workshops, European exchange projects and actions aimed at contributing to social ties and the animation of neighbourhoods. Finally, in 2010, the association rehabilitated the old abandoned cyber-base in the district, and transformed it into a Digital House, which in 2011 received the ERIC label (Espace Régional Internet Citoyen). It now hosts a real Digital Public Space (DPS) with more than a hundred members each year with free access or during specific workshops.
