April is the privileged partner for the promotion and defense of free software. April's objectives are to: 

 - Promote free software to the general public, professionals, associations and public authorities; 

- Raise awareness of the challenges of open standards and interoperability among as many people as possible; 

- Obtain political, legal and regulatory decisions favorable to the development of free software and the information commons; 

- Defend the rights of users and authors of free software; 

- Promote the sharing of knowledge and knowledge. 

April has greatly contributed to the public's awareness that computer freedom is a societal issue and that free software goes beyond technical issues alone.
