CIRODD (Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Opérationnalisation du Développement Durable) is a research, development and reference center in the operationalization of sustainable development whose mission is to accelerate the transformation of society in order to support the socio-ecological transition through sustainable innovation and transdisciplinarity.
It has ambitious trans and interdisciplinary objectives that provoke unprecedented synergies between researchers from various disciplines and field actors. This essential societal transformation will be deployed through research and the implementation of collaborative approaches, tools and methods, taking advantage of the potential of technological advances and closely integrating the needs, aims and aspirations of field actors.
CIRODD catalyzes, enlightens, advises, mobilizes and supports decision-makers and societal actors in decision-making based on the best scientific knowledge and practices. Its objective is for Quebec society to be significantly more sustainable.
In 2025, around 100 researchers and 200 students from the human, natural, health and engineering sciences collaborate and work on the operationalization of sustainable development. Their expertise is grouped into three main areas of research:
- Evaluation, design and integration
- Systemic approaches and accelerators
- Collaboration with field actors
- LCA of the production of construction materials derived from aluminum industry residues
- Alliances in the prefabricated construction sector: choice of governance structure
- Revalorization of textile waste: control of the process and development of new outlets
- Developing optimization models for the closed-loop supply chain of electric vehicle batteries in Canada
- Under the sun, a project that analysis of the impacts of solar energy equipment being deployed on an international scale, highlighting their potential coherence with SDGs, with a view to improving the quality of life of two indigenous communities in Australia.
