Équiterre

Rio de Janeiro, 1992: at the Earth Summit, young people from all over the world meet and consult on common values of solidarity and respect for the environment. Among them, six Quebecers have returned from Rio with the project of creating a citizen organization capable of proposing concrete solutions to the problems caused by pollution, large-scale industrialization and the exploitation of workers in the South. 

 Through demonstration, education, awareness, research, support and mobilization projects, Équiterre contributes to the emergence of solutions on the ground, the transformation of social norms and the adoption of public policies. Its mission is to achieve new ways of eating, producing, consuming and moving that are low-carbon, compatible with ecosystems and social justice, and designed at the scale of our territories and their communities.
