The nDEE established and manages the Research Coordination Network on the Digital Economy and the Environment (RCN-DEE). Its mission is to catalyze and disseminate research on the energy and environmental impacts of the digital economy.
The Network for the Digital Economy and the Environment is a collaboration between the Environmental Law Institute, the Yale School of the Environment, and the Center for Law, Energy & the Environment at the University of California, Berkeley. These three institutions provide the initiative with a presence in the U.S., on both the East Coast and the West Coast, and expertise in environmental assessment, management, policy, and law.
The initiative was founded in 2017. The Network for the Digital Economy and the Environment is currently funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the U.S. National Science Foundation and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The initiative also received funding from the Internet Society Foundation Patrick J. McGovern Foundation.
